LEAD COACHES REPORT – COACHES REPORT SEPTEMBER 2014 (Recovered)
24th September 2014
Since my last report in August the following has taken place:
• Swimmers attended the Dunedin Meet in Dunfermline and performed exceptionally well for so early in the season. The meet report has been previously circulated.
• Club swimmers attended the NSA in Stirling for the first of the Fife Area Squad sessions with two separate sessions held owing to squad numbers being high this year. The 6th September saw the older swimmers train, with the 20th September involving our younger kids. Feedback so far has been very positive.
• On Sunday 14th September, the Geordie Wotherspoon and Fife Championships were held in Glenrothes and once again the swimmers produced some fantastic times. Both reports have been previously circulated.
• Oliver Carter competed as part of the Scottish Swimming Team at the Sainsbury UK Schools in Manchester, where he achieved a personal best time in each of his races and won a Bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke final.
• Morgan and Kerri Stalker have both left the club’s Silver squad to focus on sporting activities away from swimming. We wish them both the best in their future endeavours.
• Confirmation from the pool management that the pool at Cupar is not closing until early 2015 for repair is great news as this allows us time to plan an alternative venue without having to rush to do so.
• This coming Sunday (28th September) 11-yr-old Adam Young will be taking part in the first of the District Regional Programme days hosted at Drumbrae swimming pool in Edinburgh and I will be there to support him for the day. Ollie Carter is at Foresthill with the level two’s for what will be his second year of involvement in the DRP.
• Our next meet is the East District Time Trial held in Prestonpans over the weekend the 4th/5th October. Seven club swimmers will be racing for new times to allow them to access the series of East District galas over the coming months.
• Cupar and Step Rock swimmers continue to train twice weekly with former head coach Russ Green as part of the clubs commitment to encouraging a swimmer pathway to performance swimming.
