21 Swimmers from clubs across Fife travelled to Lochgelly during the first week of the holidays to take part in a four-day swim camp delivered by the Fife Performance Swim Squad.
Swimmers from clubs in Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Inverkeithing, Burntisland and Cupar spent four days working on their swim skills across all four competitive strokes coached by Cupar and District Head Coach Mark Laing, who also coaches regularly with the Fife Performance Swim Squad.
Cupar swimmers who attended were
• Scarlett Ferris
• Ben Staal
• Hannah Staal
• Grace Finlay
• Kiera Lorimer
• Isla Lorimer
• Adam Young
• Torin Ellis-Morton
• Theo Ellis-Morton
• Laura Brierley
• Abigail Cousins
• Inver Petrie

The camp had a Commonwealth Games theme and the first day saw former Scottish Swimming President, Gina Logan of Cupar, deliver an informative talk to the athletes about her experiences in previous games and she went on to outline the events that those attending the games can hope to enjoy.
Time was spent in the pool, the land training studio and in the classroom where swimmers completed their Commonwealth Games project work.
Interim Head Coach of Fife Performance, David Haig said:

“This swim camp follows on from the previous camp last year which was well received. Once again swimmers travelled to Lochgelly from across the county to improve their swimming technique and to take advantage of working with some of the county’s most capable swim coaches. The swimmers thoroughly enjoyed their camp and showed real improvement as the course progressed. We will be running a summer camp too and expect swimmers will be just as eager to attend this next course. I would like to thank coaches Fiona Bradford of Glenrothes and Forrest Hamilton of Cupar for their support throughout the course.”
Sheena Clements, Deputy Manager of the community facilities at Lochgelly High School, said: “We were delighted to welcome FPSS back to Lochgelly for another holiday swim camp. They conduct the vast majority of their swim training at our pool and during the camp they also made use of our sports facilities and classrooms too, allowing them to deliver a comprehensive programme from our Community Sports Hub where all of their requirements can be met.”
