Please let me know by Thursday, 24th January, 2014, if your swimmer(s) would like to be considered for the Novice or Senior League teams by return email to the address below.  As this is a team league event, you will need to commit to as many meets as possible to ensure a “team spirit”.

The Novice League is an ideal event for young swimmers who have never taken part in galas before.  The format is informal and friendly and is a good way to introduce swimmers to gala etiquette.  For the 9 & Under age group, they swim 25 m in one stroke and hopefully will cover all 4 strokes over the four leagues.  There is also a relay where they will swim 25 m in their allocated stroke.  Each month, there is a nominated stroke and the swimmer for that stroke will swim 50 m.

In the 10-12 age group, the format is the same but each will swim 50 m and 100 m in the nominated stroke.

This is a great way to start achieving accredited times which can then be used to enter other galas.  Parents are also expected to support the swimmers by helping out with time keeping, etc., and may be allocated a job.

The Fife (Senior) League is for more experienced swimmers with times that are too fast for the morning session.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to be considered for inclusion in the Cupar team.
